Facebooked.
They tell the tale of Princess Kate,
Becoming royalty of late,
A beauty in the way she smiled,
Her office held in verve and style,
And through the blogs, the photo posts,
Became the one we loved the most,
The messages that never cease,
A hundred thousand Facebook friends.
I wasn't quite so web-aware,
I had my point of view to share,
But how to draw them to my site,
To lure them in, then make them bite?
I photoshop-ed a new disguise,
With Downey hair, and Clooney eyes,
And stood upon my server top, yeah,
Vinyl to the needle's drop.
But I perceived no sudden rush ,
No email thrill, no Google crush,
And all my bright ideas left sleeping,
Digitally , the cob webs creeping...
Though I gave it my best shot,
The silence was enough, I thought,
To bring this effort to an end,
Without a single Facebook friend.
I see your face on television,
You are someone famous now,
And I've no time for indecision,
You're the one to show me how,
It's Gangnam style, yeah that's the ticket,
Lead me through the world-wide thicket,
You've become my avatar,
Part goofy guy, part cyberstar.
And now they like me, yes they really
Like me, and my Inbox rings,
A hundred times a morning, and I
Love my fans, and everything,
But there are those who'd lie and cheat me,
Some are trying to unseat me,
Some would steal my very name,
And push me back from whence I came.
So this is all I have to say,
I wish it all would go away,
I need to lead a simpler life,
To love my kids, to kiss my wife,
So I will stop now, pull this plug,
I'll sweep the mainframe neath the rug,
And scribble new words on a page,
Like once upon a bygone age...
